Thursday, July 28
1 p.m. EDT
Instructor: Dave Moja

With the presidential election season almost upon us, there is a lot information in the press about the political activities of churches and other nonprofit organizations. It behooves all of us to know the rules that are in place. Congress has prohibited the IRS from working on the new regulations for 501(c)(4) political activities. How might this affect 501(c)(3) organizations? In this session, we will navigate what you need to know about “political” activities and allowed “issue advocacy.”

Learning Objectives:

  • Discern what leaders can and cannot say about candidates
  • List the things organizations can do that are not considered “political”
  • Analyze what the IRS examples have to show us about “political” activities
